FAM: how to make functional?

FAM: how to make functional?

2003-10-07       - By Brian T. Brunner

 Back
I RTFM, both for the service-side sgi_fam, /usr/bin/fam, /etc/fam.conf, and the
application-side fam(3x).

I have sgi_fam enabled in /etc/xinetd.d/sgi_fam, and restarted xinetd.d

I get a SIG_SEGV in FAMOpen.

Documentation leaves me two questions:

Comments in 'man 3x FAM' and in 'info fam(3x)' for FAMOpen and FAMClose
say "the variable char *appName should indicate your executable" (not an exact
quote)
Neither FAMOpen nor FAMClose have a char* varaible by any name.

FAMMonitorFile requires a void *userData, but there is no explanation what this
points to,
whether FAM malloc's data and puts it there or whether I'm to supply a pointer
to
something (which is undefined).  What do I do for this parameter?
