First I would read the imcompatible changes section of
http://dev.perl.org/perl5/news/2003/perl-5 (See http://erl-5.ora-code.com).8.1.html, to make sure your code
will migrate nicely.

I would recommend using CPAN to upgrade, if you are comfortable with using
it.  Otherwise just download the rpms for each Perl package that you use and
rpm -Uvh perl*
