"umount -f -a -t nfs " fails if server unreachable 2003-10-27 - By j debert
Back When the nfs server is down, nfs volumes cannot be unmounted even when forced with "-f".
Error messages are: "nfs server not responding", "NFS server busy", some rpc errors, etc.
System waits forever for server to come back up.
This means that the client machine will not shut down.
Sometimes, system will finish shutdown if server comes back up. Usually it will not.
This has been an on-and-off problem with prior RH releases.
Is it a known bug? Is there a workaround?
thanks...
