  | | | rdist to solaris machine | rdist to solaris machine 2003-11-12 - By Joel Thompson
Back I was able to setup SSH between my linux box and the solaris box, and can run: ssh solaris_box -l joel ls with no problems (it doesn't prompt for password, and it gives me back a list of files in my home dir on "solaris_box").
when I try and run rdist on linux_box, to transfer files to solaris_box, it gives me the following error:
LOCAL ERROR: Unexpected input from server: "".
I was suspecting that it couldn't run the rdist command on the solaris box to setup the rdist'ing between the two machines.
so I tried rdist -p /usr/bin/rdist -P /usr/bin/ssh -f distf.txt and received: LOCAL ERROR: Unexpected input from server: "Usage: rdist <...>"
Can anyone help on this? What is the "server deamon" for solaris? or is it done some other way? (I checked the man pages on both machines, but couldn't come up with anything).
Thanks Joel
