Back The 'couldn't create' problem on a file system with open space is a lack of inodes.
check /etc/logrotate.d/mailman If there is a '*' in the /var/log/mailman pathname, you have a problem;
that '*' should be 'error'.
the /var/log/mailman/error directory should have error and error.1 through error.4
Instead (on my system) it had error.1.1.1.1.1.1.1 though error.1.4.4.4.4.4.4.1
ls couldn't list this directory because it was thousands of files in size each of them length zero.
The above is old memories now...

"Couldn't create message log /var/spool/exim/msglog//1APInN-00072 (See http://InN-00072.ora-code.com)C-Qh: No space left on device"
There is over 900Mb free on /var.
But after sometime i lost my /var partition :(
