I'm trying to upgrade perl on a new install of RH7.3. I updated all errata and packages and have dowloaded perl 5.8.0 from pub/redhat/linux/updates/current/en/os/SRPMS. When I try to build from source, I get dependency problems (not unexpected) so I try to build the depended upon packages.
[root@(protected) SRPMS]# rpm --rebuild --target i686 perl-5 (See http://erl-5.ora-code.com).8.0-88.3.src.rpm Installing perl-5 (See http://erl-5.ora-code.com).8.0-88.3.src.rpm Building target platforms: i686 Building for target i686 error: failed build dependencies: db4-devel is needed by perl-5 (See http://erl-5.ora-code.com).8.0-88.3 [root@(protected) SRPMS]# rpm --rebuild --target i686 db4-4.1.25-10.src.rpm Installing db4-4.1.25-10.src.rpm Building target platforms: i686 Building for target i686 error: failed build dependencies: tcl-devel is needed by db4-4.1.25-10 [root@(protected) updates]#
I built tcl-devel with no problem, but when I try to upgrade the existing installation, I get this. Anyone tried this before?
