when you plug in the SD card, what does /var/log/messages says? I don 't know
anything about built in SD Card reader. But I setup my digital cam so that it
acts as external Hard drive (HP Photosmart 735), connect it using the USB
connector to my PC, and mount it using

I also vaguely remember you can mount your SD card from SD card reader (USB
connector) as /dev/sda1.
Maybe you can try something similar with your digital camera directly. In
anycase, the output of /var/log/messages should give us more clues.
Hope that helps
