RH9 and not much sound

RH9 and not much sound

I have a Redhat 9 machine that I 'm using for MythTV and everything it
working well except for the sound. If I play a CD you would think that
the sound is not even working. I plugged in external speakers and had to
turn them all the way to get the sound at level high enough to listen to
it.

I have all the volume controls that I can find up to the max. I 'm
running KDE. It 's using the internal audio on an Intel i810 motherboard.
Here is the relevant part of /var/log/messages:
Jan 13 21:06:51 mythtv kernel: Intel 810 + AC97 Audio, version 0.24,
23:20:28 Dec 16 2003
Jan 13 21:06:51 mythtv kernel: PCI: Found IRQ 10 for device 00:1f.5

Jan 13 21:06:51 mythtv kernel: i810_audio: AC '97 codec 0 Unable to map
surround DAC 's (or DAC 's not present), total channels = 2
Jan 13 21:06:51 mythtv kernel: i810_audio: setting clocking to 41349
Jan 13 21:06:51 mythtv kernel: i810_audio: ftsodell is now a deprecated
option.
Jan 13 21:06:51 mythtv modprobe: modprobe: Can 't locate module
sound-service-0-0

Any suggestions on where to look? Sound is working a little, so not sure
of the modprobe error.

Thanks,
James
