Difference is ... the cards he is trying to configure ate Gigabit
Ethernet.  Gigabit is still a bit .... touchy.  Cheaper cards do not
perform well.  Of course, there is the question of whether Gigabit is
warranted.  I know folks who think they need Gigabit Ethernet to run a
web server that is connected via a T-1 or T-3 link.  Cannot figure the
logic ...
