System lockup in RH 7.2 - bug?

Hi,

I mailed this forum a while ago about a problem which caused our systems to
freeze.

I have now isolated it to an ssh crontab which attempts to copy a very large
backup file to one of our off-site servers. It appears
that when this job experiences a prolonged network outage (at least several
seconds) it causes the system to hang. I have since
removed it and not had a problem since.

Has anyone heard of an issue like this, or any patches related to it?

The problem definitely appears to be SSH-related, because it has occurred with
both scp and tar piped through ssh, and does not
appear to be related to whether the file is "pushed" or "pulled". FYI, we are
running RedHat 7.2 from the original CD images (ie.
2.4.7-10 kernel), with openssh-2.9p2-7.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give us.
