It's a compatibility issue between compilers used to create the binaries
between 7.x and later versions of redhat. You have 2 options: either build
the binaries in rpm from the rpm.src packages, or install SM from sources.
I run SM on a similar machine and it's a breeze to build from sources.

There are also a lot of updates for SM available, but there are gotchas: a
lot of the recent updates for SM are builds for php-4.3.x and apache-2.x
or later. If you go with the 1.2.11 version and compatible plugins you'll
be a lot happier faster.
