Back dear Enigma-l,
The whole thing started when I tried loading ayttm-0.3.0-1.i386.rpm. A large dependency problem cropped up. The net told me that there was a software called APT that was used to solve dep probs. After lot of hassle, i managed a forced install (my fault, no hard feelings)of ayttm which beautifully ruined my rpm libraries by upgrading (!!) them to 4.0.4. no GNOrpm! no KPackage!!
Post-lots-of-heroics, i have now decided to reinstall. But, somehow my floppy drive has gone kaput (is it possible after accidentally ejecting a floppy without unmounting it?)...though it did NOT happen instanlty after that accident, i am unable to boot RH 7.2 ( i was using a bootdisk). Reinstalling seems to be the only option, because RH setup does not allow the option of installing a boot loader in upgrade mode w/o an "upgrade in the Kernel". I tried LOADLIN, but big problem is, that i don't have a /boot (which inci, RH setup had not allowed when I tried to install RH 7.2 at the end of my 20 GB SAMSUNG UATA, strangely, the last one of the 4 partitions never got written to ptable, i had to abandon /boot!!). Any ideas as to:
1. What happened to my flop...(of course not) 2. How to try and load linux now? at least a way to salvage my initrd and bzimage will do, i guess. 3. is there a bug regarding the partitioning scheme in RH 7.2 setup that restricts the schema i tried? if not, any suggestions as to what went wrong?
(I have to add that my RH 7.2 nash was running stably.)
please HELP!
