Multibooter Shutdown prob 2003-06-03 - By Suprotip Ghosh
Back Dear folks,
Could you help me on this?
Apparently, Windows does not perform an ATX cold shutdown if it detects that it doesn't "own" the MBR. I have seen this happen with Linux also, as well as on pc's with more than one Windows. I do not know, however whether it is a bug/feature of bootloaders across platforms. It is especially a problem with multibooters where apparently the OS that does not detect its own loader fails to perform a shutdown. Only way out is a manual poweroff after the OS shutdown, which is inconvenient and potentially damaging to the hardware.
any ways to byepass this problem? __ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ___ Impress your clients! Send mail from me @ mycompany.com . Just Rs.1499/year. Click http://www.rediffmailpro.com to know more.
