x starts for root, but not other user 2003-01-17 - By Shane C Branch

Okay, after switching my bad eth card for a good one, I am no longer able to
start x when logged in as scbranch.
I am able to do this when logged in as root, however.
When I start x as a normal user, the session fails and I get dumped back to a
login prompt. Being returned to the login prompt is due to the fact that I have
an alias for startx that starts the session but then logs out of the originating
console, for security.
Anyway, the contents of the .Xlog file from my home directory are:
