System Clock is very slow

System Clock is very slow

Hi,
I have a box of RedHat 8.0 whose MB is intel se7500cw2 (with promise
PDC20267).
It have been running ok some days ago. But these days i find the shift between

system clock and hardware clock is very obvious.

I have done some operations as follows:
   [root@(protected) bin]# clock -s;date;clock
   Mon Jul  7 23:07:42 CST 2003
   Mon Jul  7 23:07:45 2003  -0.115744 seconds
after 10min:
   [root@(protected) bin]# date;clock
   Mon Jul  7 23:11:56 CST 2003
   Mon Jul  7 23:17:22 2003  -0.486481 seconds
Every day the shift can be 12 hours and again !!!!
why?

many thanks.
