Back My team is setting up a number of RHEL systems. Being reasonably sensible folks, we want to be able to use RHN/up2date to download maintenance. Our company firewalls require a userid and password to get "out. "
Something that horrifies us about up2date is that our userid and password are stored in the configuration files as plain text. I really do not want to be able to see the firewall passwords for my team members, and they don 't want to see mine. I have not been able to figure out a way to not put those values in the configuration file, and then get prompted for them when starting up2date. This would seem to be a logical behavior, since most web browsers operate that way, but I haven 't found the magic incantation to get it to happen.
Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance.
