  | | | no mysql server (and other) package(s)? | no mysql server (and other) package(s)? 2003-11-06 - By Collins, Kevin (KCollins)
Back Hi,
I 'm in the process of evaluating RH ES 3 as a replacement for RH 9. After just going through our standard Kickstart process, I was confronted with several packages that weren 't found in the distro. I suspected the packages had simply been renamed or maybe combined with other related packages, but now I 'm starting to doubt that. The packages are:
mysql-server expectk expect-devel tcllib vnc-doc ncurses4 php-manual vim-X11
Now most of these are "nice-to-have 's " but not "need-to-have 's " for us, but we need mysql server and I am really surprised it is not included!
While I can always build my own, or grab an rpm from mysql.com or freshrpms.net, its always nice to just have it installed "out of the box ".
Additionally, there are plenty (12) of _other_ mysql related packages included in this distro:
MySQL-python libdbi-dbd-mysql mod_auth_mysql mysql mysql-bench mysql-devel perl-DBD-MySQL php-mysql qt-MySQL php-mysql mod_auth_mysql mysql
What gives? Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Kevin
