z390 bonding support under RHELv3

z390 bonding support under RHELv3

We are attempting to configure NIC redundancy for our Linux hosts
under VM. We have 4 OSA adapters installed in our mainframe and we are
using VM 's VSWITCH to provide network devices to the Linux hosts. We have
run into a problem where VSWITCH fails to reconnect after an upstream
switch is rebooted (it times out and disconnects, and must be manually
reconnected). This has lead us to investigating NIC ether-channel bonding.
We are able to add the first NIC to the channel, but when adding
any additional NICs we receive this error:

siocbondenslave operation not supported

A google search suggests that this error may indicate that the NIC does
allow the bonding driver to change the hardware assigned MAC address.
Could this be the case and if so does anyone know of another way to go about
providing NIC redundancy to z390 linux hosts?
