  | | | want to permit rsh between hosts | want to permit rsh between hosts 2004-01-26 - By Blaise Canzian
Back I have used rdist to update various files (such as /etc/hosts) on other machines on our LAN. Under RH7.3 this worked, under RH9 something has broken it.
An rsh command from the server host as root to a client host returns the "permission denied" error.
service xinetd is turned on with chkconfig.
The "rsh" file in /etc/xinetd.d has "disable=no".
There is a ~/.rhosts file with the server's name in the root home directory on the client, permission is 400.
/etc/hosts.allow includes the local network by IP octets, by domain, and "LOCAL".
I cannot think of what else is denying permission for the rsh. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
