From what I have tried, only the i686 packages get freshened.
I have tried to do an rpm -Fvh *.rpm in this directory and an
rpm -qa --queryformat "%{NAME} %{BUILDHOST} %{BUILDTIME} %{SIZE}
%{ARCH}\n "|grep i686
gave me the right packages installed.

But I do not know if this is a feature of rpm or just luck. ;)
