  | | | RHEL & I2C | RHEL & I2C 2004-01-27 - By Sean
Back I 've noticed that in order to utilize I2C that I have to use
an "unsupported " kernel. The reason I find this strange is becaue
the lm_sensors package is included in the RHEL 3 distribution. Of
course it 's completely unusable without running the "unsupported "
kernel.
I understand an effort to keep cutting edge stuff out of the
kernel for support reasons, but I 've been under the impression that
I2C has both been around for a long time, and is rather non-invasive
as far as kernel modules go. Of course, I 'm not a kernel programmer,
so I may be totally wrong as far as that goes.
So I guess my question is why is I2C left out of the "supported "
kernel package. When building a case to potentially spend large sums
of money on RHEL, not being able to explain stuff like this might
end up hurting my case.
Thanks,
Sean
