  | | | Scanner permissions - works as root, but not user | Scanner permissions - works as root, but not user 2004-01-28 - By Jay Crews
Back I have a Epson Perfection 1670 scanner
that I __FINALLY__ got to work on my RH8.0 box.
Had to do some ugly "rpm --force --nodeps " to get it going,
and it might come back and bite me, but it works.
Now my problem is, it 'll work fine as root, but I get
"no scanner found " when running it as a regular user.
I 'm SURE this is a permission problem, but cannot figure
which one.
/dev/usb/scanner0 was chmod 600 and I changed it to 666
I had to add /etc/sane.d/esfw30.bin firmware, and edit
/etc/sane.d/snapscan.conf to tell it it was there.
/etc/sane.d/esfw30.bin was 600 and I changed it to 666
/etc/sane.d/snapscan.conf was 644 and I left it as is.
I 'm not sure where else to look.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
