specifically read about the no_/root_squash option. Remember though,
that even if you squash local root on the clients, they can still su to
anyone in the NIS passwd map and read that user 's files. I never
export a filesystem to a machine over which I don 't control root for
this reason (/etc/netgroup helps keep this manageable). If you need to
give someone privileges to do something on their local box but they
don 't need ultimate power, look into sudo.
