Then in this case I would compile from source. If you sure you know what
you 're doing (and I think from your case you do), there 's nothing wrong with
building from source. The downside is that you have to keep up with it
yourself if thee 's any security update since up2date will be no use.
BTW, I always build apache and PHP from source (just a personal preference)
since I alwasy want the latest and greatest for PHP.
