connecting to mssql7 using jtds on linux

Hi,

I 'm trying to connect to MSSQL7 from a linux server which is running
Apache1.3.27 and Tomcat3.2.1.

I 've copied the jtds.jar (version 0.5.1) file into the directory
$TOMCAT_HOME/lib, and updated my CLASSPATH to include this jar file.

I am using turbine to manage the connection pools.

However, I am having problems with the connections.

When I browse to the urls I am getting an message returned to the browser

"Timeout on server KingstonApps1 "

where KingstonApps1 is the name of the linux server.

The tomcat.log file displays the select statements which are being executed,
there are no errors in the log file.
If I execute the sql statements directly on the mssql server they return
rows instantly.

One other specific url connects to the db to facilitate db admin.
This url will allow me to login successfully but returns the following
errors in the tomcat.log file when I try to execute any of the utilities.

Getting errors in tomcat.log
..org.apache.turbine.util.db.pool.ConnectionWaitTimeoutException:Timed out
waiting for pooled connection from
"jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://kingstondata:1433/innstore_mssql ".....

where "kingstondata " is the name of the dataserver and "innstore_mssql " is
the name of the db.

I can successfully ping the dataserver, MSSQL7 is running on port 1433

Any help or suggestions you might have would be appreciated.

Jennifer
