Back I 'm so frustrated. I hope someone can help me out.
I decided to upgrade my RH 7.3 "no firewall " system.
My computer is on a local network behind a firewall.
I set the IP address manually "10.0.0.2 ".
I did a fresh install of RHEL 3.0 and specified "no firewall "
and now I the only thing I can ping successfully is 'localhost '.
When I try to ping the gateway "10.0.0.1 ",
I get "Destination Host Unreachable ".
I 've searched google and found several people who posted similar
problems when they did a RH9 fresh install but no solutions.
Here 's my netstat -r:

I 've checked the network, ifcfg-eth0, resolv.conf files and found
nothing obviously wrong. I added "NOZEROCONF=yes " to 'network '
to remove that "169.254.0.0 " route. I 've tried setting BOOTPROTO=none
instead of BOOTPROTO=static but that didn 't solve the problem.
I tried to search the archives for this list but the web page keeps
telling me
'redhat.com ' is temporarily unavailable. Is this an unlucky fluke or is
it always unavailable?
Any suggestions for how to resolve this situation would be greatly
appreciated.
I 'm stressed out because I need my system up and running for work tomorrow
and it looks like it might not happen.
