  | | | Unable to mount cdrom | Unable to mount cdrom 2004-03-12 - By Steven J. Yellin
Back Although it's not a common problem, it could be that /dev/cdrom is a symbolic link to the wrong device. As an example of a correct symbolic link, on my computer the command "ls -l /dev/cdrom" shows ... /dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdd and hdd is correct because "cat /proc/ide/hdd/media" shows "cdrom". If instead it had been hdc that had the cdrom, I would have had to change /dev/cdrom to be a symbolic link to /dev/hdc.
