Yes, I tried that. This was the 'documentation' I referred to that
suggested
#syscctl -w <setting>
I don't recall if it was the man page or something I found on Google
that mentioned editing sysctl.conf directly, but I didn't see a best
practice recommendation.
That's why I wanted some clarification.
