Crossover Office 3.0

Crossover Office 3.0

2004-05-13       - By Ed Greshko

 Back
Once upon a time I had some harsh words to say about Codeweaver 's
Crossover Office 2.X. For those of you who may not know what Crossover
Office is it is an application that allows you to run an assortment of
M$ based software under Linux.

The 2.x version of CO would lock up my system tighter than a fist
clenched in anger. I basically swore off (and at) CO and wherever
possible used OpenOffice. I won 't go into the issue of how "support " is
provided...but it didn 't help me.

So, when the time came for me to renew my "update " contract with
Codeweavers I just let it lapse.

Low and behold, about 3 weeks after my contract lapsed I got an email
from Codeweavers telling me that 3.0 was released and they were going to
let me (and of course others) have it even though my contract lapsed.

I said, what the heck, I 'll give it another try. They were nice
enough...to forgive me for not renewing I could give them another
chance.

To make a long story short, it installed quickly and easily and is
running just great on my RHELv3-U1 (soon to be U2) system.

So, I felt need to congratulate Codeweavers and to inform the list that
my opinion about their products has changed. I 'm fairly certain that
some folks from Codeweavers may lurk on this list and ya never
know....they may just send me a free T-Shirt. :-)
