I thought people might want to know about my battles with Adaptec 2120S
controllers and WS3. I have been having major I/O problem and file system
corruptions with these. Adaptec has been GREAT in working with me on
this and I thought some other people might find this useful:

(This is from Adaptech support case)

What is the firmware revision on the Seagate drives? If the Drives are Cheetah 15K.3: ST373453; ST336753; ST318453 , the firmware revision needs to be at the new code OEM 0006 due to time out issues when running RAID 0, 1 and 5. Please visit the following link for more information: http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/u320_firmware.html

Regarding the issue you have been experiencing with I/O errors and your Adaptec SCSI Raid 2120S card running under Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 3.x: According to my sources here at Adaptec, this is a known error under RH Enterprise Linux 3.x, having to do with ACPI support under an SMP kernel. Please point your browser here for updated source code: http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.jsp?sess=no&langu age=English+US&cat=/Product/AAR-2810SA&filekey=aacraid-src_1.1.5.tgz As you can see, this is the code for the AACRAID v. 1.1.5 drivers. Please download and compile against your kernel. This should address the issues you are experiencing.

We have a new Firmware version (7244) for the 2120S that was posted on May 5, 2004. A new driver (also ver 7244) is due to be posted shortly. It is recommended that both the driver an Firmware be updated at the same time. Therefore, I would recommend that you run these updates.

Hope this of use to some of you.
