We just got a new AMD opteron box and installed RHEL3 update 2 beta for i386
(32-bit).
The Linux kernel sees this as an athlon processor and not an opteron.

# uname -a
Linux lnxopt1 2.4.21-11.ELsmp #1 SMP Mon Mar 8 23:16:34 EST 2004 i686 athlon
i386 GNU/Linux

Is there any problem or is this fine?
machine seems to be running fine..
