Back It 's not optimal but it will run fine. You 'd be best off using the ISOs
for AMD64, then your shiny new Opteron system would be 64-bit. But if
your worried about compatability with legacy apps, etc, stay with the i386
distro. Opteron 's will run as regulary x86 processors and are still quite
fast. Enjoy.
