Back Hello,
has anyone experience with the Comtech AHA361-PCIX gzip hardware
compression card? They claim their drivers are kernel 2.4 / 2.6
compatible. I consider to deploy it into a webserver which till
now uses gzip software compression, but i can 't find much information
in the web about this card.
Main questions i 'm interested in are:
- is the software part compatible to libz (maybe a replacement), so
i can use the card together with mod_gzip / mod_deflate?
- they claim to have an compression ratio about 1:2.5. Today i have
a real compression ratio with software mod_gzip over all my html
pages at about 1:5, that 's far better. Is their 1:2.5 only a
conservative number or is software compression really so much
better?
Hope someone knows this piece hardware (only information i could
find is at
http://www.aha.com
),
Ciao,
