PS2 keyboard and mouse problems Compaq EVO 510

2004-11-02       - By James B. Byrne

 Back
I have installed RedHat ES3 on a Compaq Evo 510 and cannot get
the keyboard or mouse to work after completing the install. If
booted in rescue mode the keyboard works but not the mouse.
Otherwise the system seems fine, the NIC is properly configured
and responds to network traffic, the sshd daemon is up and I can
connect via this route.

My questions are, where is the problem and how do I fix it? Are
special drivers for keyboards and mice required for this family
of machines? Is there a place to ask about their existence? HP
does not list Redhat or any Linux OS as being a supported option
for these machines, but then again they do not list any of the
other PCs that I run.
