Software raid 1

Software raid 1

I have a live remote RHE3 server with 2 identical SCSI disks in it.
I have taken over managing this server and am looking for a good
solution to mirror the first disk onto the second one.
Currently it is running a cron script using dd to copy the whole disk
every night. This is very long, and seems like a waste of cpu cycles
since it is constantly copying the same thing over and over again.

So far in the 1 month I have been managing this server it has had 2
drive failures. The first time the primary drive failed (which is why I
took over managing the server, and the second time the "mirror " drive
failed. Either they had a bad batch of drives, or dd is not doing a very
good job.

Either way I need to find a better solutions that can be easily
implemented with as little down time as possible. I was thinking of
possibly some kind of software raid, but do not know of any packages for
this. If someone has some URLs that would be great. Or any other
suggestions would also be appreciated.

Thanks
Mike
