  | | | Disabling PID numbered core dumps (RHEL3 WS U2) | Disabling PID numbered core dumps (RHEL3 WS U2) 2004-11-14 - By I-Skerritt, Shannon
Back Hi all,
I am trying to configure the kernel so that core dumps are just dumped as 'core ', that is without the process ID appended to the file name.
I have set 'kernel.core_uses_pid = 0 ' in the /etc/sysctl.conf and it was working as expected. For an unknown reason, the kernel is now dumping core files with appended PIDs again.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Shannon.
