Over the last week or so, I have had the following error logged by the
kernel on one of my RHEL ES 3 systems (running kernel 2.4.21-20.ELsmp):

Nov 19 16:28:12 gnat2 kernel: APIC error on CPU1: 02(02)
Nov 19 16:28:12 gnat2 kernel: APIC error on CPU0: 02(02)
Nov 25 08:36:42 gnat2 kernel: APIC error on CPU1: 02(02)
Nov 25 08:36:42 gnat2 kernel: APIC error on CPU0: 02(02)
Nov 28 22:59:46 gnat2 kernel: APIC error on CPU0: 02(02)
Nov 28 22:59:46 gnat2 kernel: APIC error on CPU1: 02(02)

What does this mean? I googled for it, but got no real answers.

Someone blamed it on bad motherboards, but this is an Intel board that
has been running fine for about 4-5 years now (AFAIK the above are the
only times I 've ever had that message). Is this an indication that it
is going to fail?
