Back I was installing fuse-1.3 but configure gave the following error:
checking kernel source directory... Not found configure: error: *** Please specify the location of the kernel source with *** the '--with-kernel=SRCDIR' option [jeroen@(protected) fuse-1.3]$
But since the kernel-source is not shipped with RHEL3 by default, I ran up2date to get and install the latest version. Big surprise when up2date told that kernel-source was already updated. Querying with rpm confirmed that kernel-source was not installed.
[jeroen@(protected) programs]$ up2date kernel-source Invalid group id server-cfg Fetching Obsoletes list for channel: rhel-i386-ws-3... Fetching rpm headers... ######################################## Name Version Rel -- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----- The following Packages were marked to be skipped by your configuration: Name Version Rel Reason -- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ------ kernel 2.4.21 20.0.1.ELPkg name/pattern [RHSA-2004:549-10] Updated kernel packages that fix several security issues in R ed Hat Enterprise Linux 3 are now available. kernel-source 2.4.21 20.0.1.ELPkg name/pattern No advisory information available
The following packages you requested are already updated: kernel-source [jeroen@(protected) programs]$ rpm -q kernel-source package kernel-source is not installed
So, my questions is: do I have kernel-source on my system, and if yes in which location can I find it (/usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/ is empty)?
Thanks in advance.
