  | | | Roll back to previous kernel | Roll back to previous kernel 2005-01-07 - By Hambleton, John S.
Back Greetings,
I recently upgraded to the 2.4.21-27.0.1.EL kernel. No problems with it but... I just inherited an IBM 3580 LTO tape drive that I'd like to use. However the IBM device drivers are only supported through the 2.4.21-20.EL kernel.
Would there be somebody out there who has a feel for how often IBM releases driver updates for the 3580 LTO drive? (I do not have an IBM support contract for the device else I could ask IBM support).
Alternatively, I might elect to roll back to the 2.4.21-20.EL kernel for a while. Since 2.4.21-27.0.1.EL was installed with RPM via up2date, is rolling back to the previous kernel as simple as "rpm erase"? If not, what will get me safely back to 2.4.21-20.EL ?
Thanks much.
