Back He wants "2.4.21-20.EL" not "2.4.21-27.0.1.EL". And as far as not using 2.6 from kernel.org, i've compiled and used it ( On multiple machines ) on RHEL3 boxes without issue. Of course, it should only really be done as a last resort, but the option is there. Would you rather use a kernel with known vulnerabilities or one that may be a bit less vulnerable? That said, you won't get support from redhat of course if you do end up messing your install up.
