Hello,

I've been bouncing this issue around for three days now and I've seen
many people with similar issues but no solutions that worked.

Problem: I cant compile the kernel using the standard included config files
config-2.4.21-27.0.1.ELsmp and kernel-2.4.21-i686-smp.config
I know these are the same file but I tried them both anyway just to
eliminate that possibility.

I found another post that said that the "unsupported" packages needed to be
installed
so I installed them and ran the /sbin/new-kernel-pkg --mkinitrd --depmod
--install <kernel-version>

No joy. I get the exact same errors.

I've shown them here in part:

/usr/src/linux-2.4.21-27.0.1.EL/include/net/ah.h:28: warning: implicit
declaration of
     function `crypto_hmac_final'

make[1]: *** [_subdir_xfrm] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.21-27.0.1.EL/net'
make: *** [_dir_net] Error 2

I found a couple mentions of this error on news groups from a year or two
back which included in
one a patch that would allegedly fix this but I was unable to cleanly apply
this patch.

Can anyone help me get past this?
