Back I'm looking for an open source project that will do roughly the equivalent of HP's Storage Area Manager (OVSAM). We've found OVSAM to be very limiting and either need to get HP to throw some development time at it or we'll have to replace it. Essentially what I'm after is a client/server application whereby the client sends the server disk information (e.g. used and allocated space) and the server then does the collecting, trending, etc. One of the big gotchas with the OVSAM product is that it doesn't support active/passive clusters at all and we need it to be supported on both Solaris and Windows (we're not clustering Linux yet but I expect I might add this early this year). Some systems have a large number of mount points and simple tools like BigBrother and RRD simply won't cut it.
Sourceforge and google searches so far haven't resulted in anything useful.
