centrino/ipw2100 module

centrino/ipw2100 module

Has anyone had luck finding an rpm for the ipw2100 (Centrino mobile
technology) module for RHEL?
I found them for FedoraCore, RH8, and RH9.

I have downloaded the source for 1.0.0 (version recommended by Intel) from
http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/ but it won't build as it tells me my
kernel config has modules disabled (but I'm using modules...).  I don't
have high hopes for this as it "requires" a 2.6.4+ kernel and RHEL still
uses a 2.4.x kernel with 2.6 functions...

The present kernel configuration has modules disabled.
Type 'make config' and enable loadable module support.
Then build a kernel with module support enabled.

I am running RHEL WS rel 3 update 4 (kernel 2.4.21-27.EL) on a Dell
Latitude D600.  This is a brand new build with a vanilla kernel.  Let me
know if more detail is needed...  ...and yes, I have RTFM'ed, I'm
following the destructions in the Building External section as I don't
want to have to rebuild the kernel (I'm going to have more of these as
users buy new laptops...)

Please smack me if I am doing something stupid!  I'd prefer this group
over my user smacking me <grin>.
