Try also, ethtool eht0 - which will show you the nic settings, as shown
below, and let you change them.
You want to be sure that both the switch and the nic are set to
autonegotiate or hard ffull or half.
And that whatever it is set to matches the settings on the switch.
I have see a lot of problems where the switch was set to 100 Full-Duplex,
and the Nic was set to 100 Auto-Negotiate, or vice versa.

Ethtool also lets you set the speed and autonegotiation features of the
nic.

# ethtool eth0
Settings for eth0:
Supported ports: [ TP MII ]
       Supported link modes:   10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
                               100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
       Supports auto-negotiation: Yes
       Advertised link modes:  10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
                               100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
       Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes
       Speed: 100Mb/s
       Duplex: Full
       Port: Twisted Pair
       PHYAD: 1
       Transceiver: internal
       Auto-negotiation: on
       Supports Wake-on: puag
       Wake-on: g
       Link detected: yes

I am not able
to unfold, how this cautelous enterprise of licensing can be
exempted from the number of vain and impossible attempts.  And he
who were pleasantly disposed could not well avoid to liken it to
the exploit of that gallant man who thought to pound up the crows
by shutting his park gate.
