I agree. The HP system health drivers are poorly written. We have had
lockups, 100% CPU utilization and other issues relating to these
modules. You would think the #1 server vendor would have a more polished
product..

you can just not use them. The HP guys on this list will hate me for
saying this, but your system will work just fine without those binary
modules, you can sleep better at night about not doing evil things to
the GPL and we still see some cases where those modules spontaniously
reboot or otherwise crash the machine, symptoms that go away when the
customer consequently stops using them.

I don't know why HP has decided to not make those modules conform to the
GPL license, and maybe on of the HP people on this list can expand on
that...
