Strange NFS behavior on U4 kernel

Strange NFS behavior on U4 kernel

I wanted to ask if anyone has seen strange NFS behavior on the U4 kernel
(specifically 2.4.21-27.0.1.EL) when doing lots of little-file IO to a
back-end NAS storage device (Netapp filer in this case).

We have all our NFS mounts specified with mount options
tcp,intr,rsize=32768,wsize=32768.  Certain hosts running Oracle
Concurrent Manager will stop doing NFS traffic.  We've captured netdump
cores and uploaded them to our support organization for investigation.

df does not hang, but no NFS traffic, even to brand new mounts, works
properly.  I can mount just fine, but when I try to "cat" a file, it
hangs.  The same NFS export works fine on multiple other hosts at the
same moment, so we're pretty sure the Netapp is not at fault.

I've read
"Kernel hang when cat'ting file on intr NFS mount"
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=138182

I do not know if this bug applies directly to my situation or not.  Has
anyone else duplicated this behavior?  Is there any type of analysis I
could perform with tcpdump or tethereal to narrow down the problem?
Thanks!

/Brian/
