Hello,
This is my first post to the list, I haven't seen this issue reported in the
archives.
I'm running RHEL AS 3 update 4 in a Power Edge 1600SC, CERC ATA100/4Ch raid
controller with 4x250 Gb hard drives in RAID 5. I were using megaraid2.o driver
,
but when I updated to update 4, the server won't boot. Taroon update 4 has
updated megaraid2 driver from 2.10.6 to 2.10.8, which doesn't work in CERC
ATA/100 controllers. However, previous version of megaraid2 driver (called
megaraid_2106.o in taroon 4) and megaraid.o (v. 1 of the driver) works
perfectly. Something has been broken in the new megaraid2 driver, shipped in
taroon update 4.
When the server boots, this is what console shows:
VFS: Cannot open root device "LABEL=/" on 00:00
please append a correct "root=/" boot option
kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 00:00
