RHEL NFS woes

RHEL NFS woes

When I first deployed RHEL 3 (shortly after release) and even
during the Update 1 or perhaps Update 2 days, I didn't have much I could
complain about. At least, I hadn't run into any serious or regular
stability issues.

Fast forward to recently -- after having many systems deployed
as well as having numerous Solaris systems replaced, we've had regular
run ins with panics (most related to kswapd, although rarely nfs as
well) along with boxes grinding down to the point where they're barely
usable due to NFS issues. We don't have any Solaris NFS servers --
strictly NetApp filers using TCP nfs v3 w/ matching parameters. Since
upgrading to the U4 kernel that seems to have been fixed, but we've
still had a few random panics.

I've tracked the threads here as well as the bugid's. I'm trying
to stay positive here, but is a resolution in sight? It seems like
something got out of whack around Update 3? Perhaps this is just my
perception.

Thoughts welcome...

-charles.
