Back We just bought a IBM Intelliworkstation with OS as Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS (v. 3 for AMD64/Intel EM64T).
I am wondering how to manage/upgrade packages in this system.
By looking at the adminstration manual, it looks like that the easiest way is to use RHN's up2date.
However, with a fresh new installation from IBM, the first time I try the up2date, it just gave me a lot of unsolved dependices. And it seems those dependencies can not be easily handled by human. I am wondering if there is a tool to help to solve dependencies? Something like apt, yum, or portage will be fine.
We are trying to use this machine as a server, however, if I can not run up2date succesfully, the security issue will be a big problem, since I can not easily update all the new fixes.
I looked at the manual again and again, and can not find a solution at all.
And in the redhat support page, I can not find a like, which I can report my problem thus to get some help.
Another question: where (ftp or http) can I find a specific RPM package for Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS (v. 3 for AMD64/Intel EM64T)? I don't want to insert installation CDs every time I need to install some new softwares (It seems that up2date does not help for installing new softwares).
Thanks!
