  | | | Remote Install ? | Remote Install ? 2005-02-09 - By Jacques Beja
Back Hi everyone, I know RHEL has some functionnaly letting install a system remotely. Remote media (HTTP/FTP/NFS) is well supported and kickstart allows to automate a good part of the installation process. Currently I'm using a NFS server combined with a DHCP server to make remote installs. I would like to develop a light client (ie a web page) to set up the details and options of the intallation. I can make a form to full a kickstart and eventually a post install script, that's not a problem. What I need to know is : - is there any means to launch the installation process using the web page (which would be on the installation server) ? - is there any means to avoid using a boot disk on the server to install* ? * currently the procedure is booting on the server with a boot cdrom and using 'linux ks console=ttyS0,19200" at prompt to follow the installation process through a serial console. Anybody got a clue ? Jacques BEJA GL TRADE PARIS
